Hello hello.
So, I missed 2010's annual update, which I felt was a pretty good start to the annual update systems institution in 2009. Cliffnotes:
- I finished the Games Design Masters early this year, I got a distinction.
- I now work as a fully contracted Games Designer at TT Fusion, the folks that handle the handheld versions of the Lego titles. Credits thus far include Lego Clone Wars, Pirates and soon Harry Potter Years 5-7 (recently announced) on DS, PSP and 3DS.
- I still maintain my MA blog/diary at [link] but it has been reincarnated as the spiritual successor of my once-upon-a-time IGN blog, "Too Long Didn't Read", where I sporadically post thoughts about videogames that hopefully won't get me fired
- By the sounds of it, life is still good.
I've toyed several times with the idea of closing this modest DA account. The truth is, I'm not and never have been an artist. I keep some base illustrative skills polished to help present my game ideas, and for the most part they serve me well, but it's been many years since I entertained the idea of being an artist myself. I'm surrounded by artists daily. When I'm online, when I was at Uni, and now when I'm at work, so I know what actual artistic talent looks like. Heck, it's all over DA, in anyone I'm "watching". So as I take a broom and duster to my online presence, my DA back catalogue seems fit for the bin.
But no, I'm going to leave it open. In fact I might even start adding to it again. I've got some stuff from the last year saved up, and I still have cause to keep those base illustrative skills polished. Assuming the world doesn't end, I'll try to remember to check in again in 2012. In the meantime, enjoy my new personal info, now with more generalities and non-answers. Cheers all.
-Steve
